“Let’s dive deeper into the power of word-of-mouth marketing. This timeless form of marketing remains incredibly potent even now when digital has really taken over so many aspects of our lives. Over the last four years, I’ve interviewed many business owners on this very podcast and a recurring theme has been the critical role of personal recommendations in business growth.
Despite the large list of digital tools that are available, word of mouth continues to be a primary driver of new business. Additionally, online reviews and testimonials can amplify this effect. People often turn to reviews to gauge the reliability and quality of a service or product. So, encouraging your customers who’ve absolutely loved working with you to leave a positive review can significantly impact your business’s reputation.
It’s about creating a snowball effect where one happy customer leads to another, and so on. Networking, however, is not just about expanding your business reach. It’s also about building a support system. As business owners, we often face challenges that can be really isolating.
Your family and friends who don’t run businesses won’t always understand what you’re going through. So it’s difficult for them to advise when they haven’t experienced the same things. Whether it’s dealing with a difficult client or navigating financial uncertainties, maybe it’s trying to manage your everyday operations.
Having a support network can make these challenges more manageable. A strong network provides not just professional opportunities but also emotional support. There were many times when I faced some really tough or challenging decisions in my business, and in these moments, having a network of other business owners to turn to was invaluable.”
