Brenton also shares his passion project, Contain Your Brain, a stress management application that helps users worry less through a concept called ‘worry time.’ The app allows users to allocate a specific time and place to address their worries, providing tips and techniques to manage them better. The app prioritises privacy and does not track any user data.

Bigger isn’t always better

“Not all websites are equal. There is a perception in business, as a whole, that it’s very easy to create websites, and anyone can create one for you. I’ll even say you can see accountancy and financial companies now saying, we’ll design your website.

Brand agencies, PR agencies, SEO agencies—digital is so specialised, as you know, first and foremost. And you need to stay in your lane these days. It was very different 20 years ago, 15 years ago, and even 10 years ago from what my agencies did. 

If one bit of advice I can give to people is if you’re looking for a partner anywhere in digital, find one that stays in their lane and specialises and does one thing. Yes. Because any agent that says that we can do it. All of it. That means, unfortunately, 99 .999 % of the time, they usually do one thing well and the other five things or whatever they’re outsourcing. Yeah. They’re losing control because they’re outsourcing it or trying to do it, and they’re doing a terrible low-level job. Uunfortunately, the customer ends up with a subpar solution.

If someone comes to me to say they need SEO, as you know, you’re one of the key people I recommend because you’re a specialist, and that’s what you do. And you don’t make out you do other things. So, we don’t touch SEO. We understand it. We, you know, I’d like to think we could probably do it, but we would only do at best 25, 30 % to level that you do.”
