The businesses that came before

"I was at my job doing the normal day-to-day work. I always told myself I don't have that employee chip. I'm a leader, but I'm still an employee.

Before I started these two businesses full time, I'd started many businesses before. I wouldn't say they were failures, but there were a lot of lessons learned that led me to where we are today. I started an Amazon FBA business. I bought a hot dog cart with my mum, and we'd go after work and sell quick food at a university in Florida. I did crypto. I did day trading. I was all over the place, trying to work out what it was, because I've always been pulled towards something more without quite knowing what it was."

The day she knew

"It just came one day where I felt like a hamster on a wheel, going round the same circle. They'd actually just promoted me, and everyone was thrilled for me. When I gave my notice two months in advance, my boss cried. It was a lot of emotion, but I knew this was something I was doing for me.

Long story short, something inside me said it was time. To be completely honest, and I don't advise anybody to do this, I had no plan. I had no idea what I was doing. I just said, I'm not renewing my apartment contract, I'm not staying here, I'm going to be an entrepreneur. I quit my job and moved to Puerto Rico, and there I was.

It's been a lot of figuring things out. That's what these past two years have been: a lot of bruises, and at the same time a lot of little diamonds and treasures that we've found."
