Asking for help

“I didn’t think I was really going to be a business owner. I didn’t know what I wanted to do. Glow & Gifts happened very organically.

Towards the middle of last year, I was kind of feeling super lost in my business. Like, or I, most of I didn’t know where I wanted to go with it. and not because I didn’t love it anymore because I do love going gifts, but I was just feeling like something was missing and I couldn’t quite put my finger on what it was.

But in May last year, I went over to WA, and I spent some time in Perth with an incredible small business community over there and a lot of small business owner friends and kind of hanging out with each of them and catching up with them. I was, I really like kind of realised that it was the connection with other people. That was what I was missing from Glow and Gifts. I do all the things all myself, like a lot of us business owners do and it was kind of realising that I just wanted the connection with people that understood what I was going through.

I was chatting with all of these business owners. Everyone was like, why don’t you start your own networking events business in Sydney? I was like, maybe I could do this. Maybe it is a good idea.

On that plane flight back to Sydney, I pretty much planned social spark events. In the space of about three weeks, I had planned it, brought it to life and hosted the first event. And now I’m about to, well, we’re coming up to 12 months and celebrating our first birthday at our June event, which is on the 20th of June.

I don’t even know how it’s already been 12 months. It’s kind of a wild ride, but it really did feel like I was the missing piece to my puzzle, and that’s filled my cup. After every event, I’m content with myself as a person and with my businesses, and I love seeing the domino effect it has on all of the attendees who come along as well.”
