Welcome to Episode 17 in Season 2

Listen to the episode

In this episode I'm joined by Phuong Barraclough, a Wollongong local, mum to two creative and energetic daughters, and an NDIS consultant specialising in provider registrations and governance. She has a head for compliance and a heart for community.

Show notes

Connect My Community has been running for three years, but Phuong's story started much earlier. She worked in a bakery in high school, and her idea of hard work and work ethic came from hard-working parents who were refugees from the Vietnam War.

In Phuong's words

Boundaries as a woman in business

"What's really important as a woman in business is that we're often fed by culture and society the idea that we should meet the needs of whoever comes our way, whenever it comes our way. That we're maternal givers who go above and beyond ourselves.

When you're a woman in business, that takes a different shape and a different form, and we need to respect some of those boundaries to keep us healthy in business, so that we can be healthy women."

Checking you're still on the path

"It's important for every business owner, regardless of where you're at in your journey, to do regular check-ins: am I on the path towards my goals? Reminding yourself to stay on track, but also valuing the time you commit to your business and your work.

Something I've learned in hindsight, coming into the new version of my business, is the true value of my knowledge, my experience and my time. Dedicating it intelligently to the right avenues and services, and being really clear about what it is I don't do. That can be really hard."

Knowing what you don't do

Phuong's point is one I work by. SEO and visibility is all I do, and I keep my client numbers small so the work stays properly done.

If you're looking for that kind of focus, my SEO services and The Visibility Accelerator™ are where that happens. The Accelerator is by application, with a maximum of five clients at a time.
